The three common porosity tools are the formation density log, compensated neutron log, and the acoustic or sonic log. These tools are sensitive to both rock matrix and to the fluid-filling the pore space. Consequently, their measurements reflect not only porosity but also the type of rock, the clay content, and the fluid type.
